Compressor Rebuild Planning Guide
How to prepare scope, parts, diagnostics, controls checks, and startup review before an industrial compressor rebuild.
A rebuild plan should reduce downtime uncertainty. The work starts before the compressor is opened.
Gather the machine history
Collect model information, service records, vibration history, trip history, oil analysis, controls alarms, known parts issues, and recent production changes.
Define the shutdown window
Clarify the outage duration, backup air plan, safety constraints, vendor access, rigging needs, and commissioning timing.
Stage parts and decisions
Parts availability often drives schedule. Identify critical components, repair options, aftermarket alternatives, and inspection hold points before the outage.
Include startup review
The rebuild is not complete when the machine is reassembled. Startup should include controls checks, pressure response, operator visibility, alarms, and system behavior under load.
