Everyone Goes Home: Safety on Every Job

From strapping rebuilt compressors for the highway to a filter change that needed a crane, safety gets the same seriousness as every other part of the work at The Fischer Group.

Rebuilt compressors strapped and secured on a trailer for the trip back to the customer

When projects leave the shop, I’m filled with both excitement and caution. I take great pride in watching our team finish work on a product I’m confident in and proud to stand behind. A set of compressors headed back to a customer recently, and we were pleased to see them leave in exceptional condition, restored to a standard that reflects both quality and professionalism.

Just as important is making sure every component is safely strapped, secured and packaged for transport. Protecting the equipment matters, but so does protecting the motorists who share the highway with us and our own people who handle the delivery.

Even simple jobs

Even the most basic task can turn complex depending on the installation. What looks like a simple air filter element change can quickly become a major operation that needs crane support, careful planning and close coordination.

The same goes for pulling a compressor out of a plant for rebuild and rerate. I enjoy watching our teams do that work safely and deliberately, one step at a time.

The mailman is more important than the mail

Traveling from North Carolina to Detroit this past winter, I was reminded that we all face adversity in one form or another while carrying out our duties. The weather made that trip downright perilous. We all have responsibilities and we take pride in doing what’s required, but every one of us needs to make it back home to the people we do this for. Don’t put yourself at undue risk just to save time. As the saying goes, the mailman is more important than the mail.

At The Fischer Group, safety is treated with the same seriousness and dedication as every other part of our operation. We invest heavily in training our people to follow rigorous safety practices in every phase of their work, so that at the end of each day everyone returns home safely to their friends and families.

Take your time, manage your tasks deliberately and look out for one another. Stay safe out there.
