Compressor Rebuilds
Maintenance Is Key to Reliability: Overhauling a 60 PSI 2ACII
An extensive overhaul of a 60 PSI 2ACII centrifugal compressor that had seen little beyond filter and oil changes: sleeved barrels, a new 2nd stage diffuser, impeller repairs and new oil coolers.

We recently took on a significant project: the overhaul of a 60 PSI 2ACII compressor. It’s a good look at the dedication of our service team at The Fischer Group.
These centrifugal air compressors are workhorses. They’re designed for continuous operation, but like any equipment they need regular maintenance.
Why this one was extensive
We put a lot into detailed maintenance plans to keep units performing at their best. Our approach includes rotating coolers for efficiency and carefully cleaning the aerodynamic components so they keep working the way they should. This overhaul was especially extensive because the unit hadn’t been serviced beyond basic filter and oil changes in recent years.
The refurbishment included stainless steel sleeved barrels, a new 2nd stage diffuser, impeller repairs, and new oil coolers and lines.

Twenty years on TFG controls
This unit was fitted with Allen Bradley PLC controls by The Fischer Group two decades ago, and it continues to run seamlessly alongside seven other TFG-controlled compressors at the plant. With a few instrument updates during this overhaul, the compressor is now ready for its next operating cycle.
